Campaign for electoral reform

No sooner had the polls closed than Unlock Democracy, POWER2010, Vote for a Change and a host of other organisations launched a petition for electoral reform, at www.takebackparliament.com, and a rally at Trafalgar Square at 2pm on Saturday 8 May. Peter Facey, Director of Unlock Democracy (and a member of the Democracy Matters Alliance) is hopeful: “The good news is, while the election result has never been more ridiculous, we've never had a better chance to change it. No politician can now pretend that our voting system is in any way defensible; we just have to make sure now that they can no longer pretend it isn't an issue.”

Seizing the moment is key to practical politics.
